{"id":55,"date":"2020-08-11T22:02:38","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T22:02:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/camilla-piano.com\/?page_id=55"},"modified":"2026-04-30T08:49:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T08:49:32","slug":"biography","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/camilla-piano.com\/index.php\/biography\/","title":{"rendered":"Biography"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Camilla K\u00f6hnken studied piano with Pierre-Laurent Aimard (Cologne), Jerome Rose (New York), and Claudio Mart\u00ednez Mehner (Basel) and had additional instruction from Claude Frank and Dmitri Bashkirov (Verbier), Richard Goode (New York), or Ferenc Rados (Prussia Cove\/Lenk\/Basel).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She played solo concerts at <em>Carnegie Hall<\/em>, New York, the <em>Palacio de Festivales<\/em>, Santander, or the <em>Teatro La Fenice<\/em>, Venice. Additionally, she regularly performs on fortepianos, for example at the Beethovenhaus Bonn (Conrad Graf of 1824; John Broadwood of 1817), at the Beethovenhaus Baden near Vienna (Graf of 1818) or the Haydnhaus Eisenstadt (Walter of ca. 1785).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From early on, Camilla combined her solo career with chamber music projects in different formations, covering a wide-ranging repertoire. Since 2011, she has been performing with saxophonist Pedro C\u00e1mara Toldos (<em>Ivory &amp; Reed<\/em>) and with David da Silva, clarinet and Adam Newman, viola (<em>Philon Trio<\/em>) as well as with Swiss cellist Chiara Enderle (see Recordings).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, she completed a doctorate on interpretation strategies of Franz Liszt and his circle at the University of Bern\/Hochschule der K\u00fcnste Bern, Switzerland, as part of Kai K\u00f6pp\u2019s research group on 19th century Instructive Editions. 2019-2022, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Tom Beghin&#8217;s project \u201cDeclassifying the Classics\u201d at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Belgium.
